| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Alan Skirball, M.D., F.A.C.S., who passed |
| 4 | | away on February 27, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Skirball was born in Dayton, Ohio to Rudolph |
| 6 | | and Zehrel (Pinner) Skirball on September 11, 1923; he served |
| 7 | | in the United States Army Air Corp's 334th Fighter Squadron as |
| 8 | | a Second Lieutenant from April of 1944 to December of 1945; he |
| 9 | | was awarded the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster during his |
| 10 | | service; he married Betty Jean Greene on September 15, 1949; |
| 11 | | and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Skirball earned his bachelor's degree and his |
| 13 | | Doctor of Medicine at The Ohio State University; he performed |
| 14 | | his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at |
| 15 | | Jewish Hospital in St. Louis; he practiced OB/GYN medicine in |
| 16 | | Granite City and Glen Carbon, and was on staff at St. |
| 17 | | Elizabeth's, now Gateway Regional Medical Center, in Granite |
| 18 | | City, the Oliver C. Anderson Hospital in Maryville, and Jewish |
| 19 | | Hospital St. Louis; he was board certified by the American |
| 20 | | Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, After retirement, Dr. Skirball and his wife moved |
| 22 | | to Boca Raton, Florida; he was a member of Temple Shaare Emeth |
