SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William J. "Gov" Bolger of McHenry, who
4passed away on February 24, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Bolger was born on the family farm a few
6miles south of McHenry to Thomas and Grace (Doherty) Bolger on
7October 9, 1920; he graduated from McHenry High School in 1938
8and married Madeline Freund at St. Mary Church in McHenry on
9July 2, 1966; and
 
10    WHEREAS, William Bolger worked one year at the Farmers Mill
11before returning to operate the family farm in the heart of the
12Irish Prairie alongside the Fox River until 2010; he raised and
13cared for dairy cattle, pigs, and chickens with the help of
14neighborhood boys; and
 
15    WHEREAS, William Bolger and his brothers, Tom and Bill,
16formed the McHenry Shamrocks hard-ball baseball team; along
17with neighbors and friends, they won the county championship in
181949; he and his wife, Madeline, enjoyed having a large garden
19and attending family picnics and special events; he belonged to
20St. Patrick Church all his life, where he was an usher and
21Eucharistic Minister; he also belonged to the Foresters and the
22Knights of Columbus; he and his wife were active participants

1in Associated Milk Producers, Inc; and
 
2    WHEREAS, William Bolger was preceded in death by his wife,
3Madeline; his parents; his brother, Thomas; his three sisters,
4Vivian Eastman, Eleanor Sullivan, and Mabel Weber; and his four
5brothers-in-law, Richard Eastman, Edwin Sullivan, Richard
6Weber, George Miller, and Harold Stilling, Sr.; and
 
7    WHEREAS, William Bolger is survived by his son, John
8Bolger; his granddaughter, Sara Bolger; his brother, William
9(Carol) Bolger; his sisters, Grace Bolger Stilling, Ann Bolger
10Miller, Margaret (Richard) Carey, and Rita (Raymond) Gaylord;
11and his sister-in-law, Kathryn Nye Bolger; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14William J. Bolger, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of William Bolger as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
