SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald M. Pfau, Jr. of Hampton, who passed away on March 1, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Donald Pfau was born in Chicago to Donald M. and Beulah (Farver) Pfau, Sr. on July 5, 1923; he served in the United States Air Force during World War II; he earned his engineering degree from Iowa State University and married Betty Finley on March 17, 1950 at Watertown Baptist Church in East Moline; and

WHEREAS, Donald Pfau began his career at John Deere Planter Works on June 25, 1951; his 33 years with Deere & Company included assignments in a variety of engineering functions, and a progression of managerial positions at Planter Works, the Industrial Equipment Works, Deere & Company, and the European Office; during the nearly eight years in the European office, he and Betty lived in Heidelberg, Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe; and

WHEREAS, Donald Pfau enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his buddies; he enjoyed woodworking with his son, Kenyon; his greatest joy was his grandchildren and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, Donald Pfau was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kenyon; and

WHEREAS, Donald Pfau is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Jennifer (Sean) McGivern; his daughter-in-law, Brenda Pfau; his grandchildren, Drew (Natalie) Wayne, Ryan (Susan) McGivern, and Katie (Ryan) Ganshert; and his great-grandchildren, Kyler, Karter, Olivia, Liam, Brogan, and Salima; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald M. Pfau, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Pfau as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
