| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Calvin Franklin "Cal" Ennis, who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 6, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Calvin Ennis was born on March 7, 1925 in Alton; |
| 6 | | his parents were William Zachariah and Viola Ovila Ennis; he |
| 7 | | married Virginia Moody on December 20, 1947 in Alton; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Calvin Ennis attended radio training school |
| 9 | | before enlisting in the United States Navy; he served during |
| 10 | | World War II aboard the USS Bluefish; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Calvin Ennis was a member of Veterans of Foreign |
| 12 | | Wars Post 1308 and enjoyed attending the weekly meetings of his |
| 13 | | PTSD Group at Jefferson Barracks; he was a member of Brown |
| 14 | | Street Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and served as |
| 15 | | a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher for the young married |
| 16 | | couples class; as a woodworker, he volunteered his skills to |
| 17 | | the church where needed, including making cabinets for the |
| 18 | | church; he later became a member of Heartland Baptist Church |
| 19 | | and served as an usher and built the wooden cross which hangs |
| 20 | | behind the choir; he also used his woodworking skills to build |
| 21 | | props for the Showtime Productions Dance Studio in Alton; and
