| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
| 3 | | recognize the Illinois Association of REALTORS for its |
| 4 | | commitment to proudly representing the real estate
industry in |
| 5 | | the State of Illinois for 100 years; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The mission of the Illinois Association of |
| 7 | | REALTORS is to be the premier real
estate advocate for the |
| 8 | | public, its members, and the communities they
serve; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In its 100-year history, the Illinois Association |
| 10 | | of REALTORS has become
known as the "Voice for Real Estate" and |
| 11 | | it takes pride in advocating for the protection
of private |
| 12 | | property rights and in helping families realize the American |
| 13 | | Dream of
homeownership; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of REALTORS achieves its |
| 15 | | mission by educating its
members and by advocating on issues at |
| 16 | | the State and local level of
government; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, On April 25, 1916, the Articles of Incorporation |
| 18 | | were signed creating
the Real Estate Association of Illinois; |
| 19 | | and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Since its incorporation, the Illinois Association |
|

| 1 | | of REALTORS, has been watchful over
the issues of property |
| 2 | | taxes, tax reform, and fees that impact the transfer of real
|
| 3 | | estate; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of REALTORS achieved its |
| 5 | | primary goal of securing the first
Illinois real estate license |
| 6 | | law in 1922; amended many times over the following
years, it |
| 7 | | established standards for the real estate profession; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of REALTORS partners |
| 9 | | with the Regional Economic Applications Laboratory (REAL) at |
| 10 | | the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to provide |
| 11 | | essential housing
reports and market forecasts to Illinois |
| 12 | | media; it also researches the
positive economic impact of home |
| 13 | | sales across many sectors of the Illinois
economy; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of REALTORS engages |
| 15 | | directly with consumers on local
advocacy issues through the |
| 16 | | Real Property Alliance; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of REALTORS Relief |
| 18 | | Foundation has provided needed
assistance to hard hit |
| 19 | | communities, donating more than $575,000 toward disaster
|
| 20 | | relief since 1997; teams of Illinois realtors, alongside |
| 21 | | Habitat for
Humanity, have assisted in rebuilding efforts |
| 22 | | throughout the United States; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of REALTORS opened a |
| 2 | | newly constructed headquarters
building in the downtown |
| 3 | | Springfield historic district in 2007 and has been a
supporter |
| 4 | | of the Springfield community as a sponsor of the Kidzeum's |
| 5 | | Green Home
Construction Exhibit and a founding supporter of the |
| 6 | | Governor's Mansion
Restoration Project; therefore, be it
|
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the |
| 9 | | Illinois Association of REALTORS, its members, and its staff |
| 10 | | during its 100th anniversary celebration in
recognition of |
| 11 | | their advocacy on issues important to all matters related to |
| 12 | | real
estate and private property rights; and be it further
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That we designate April 25, 2016 as "Illinois |
| 14 | | REALTORS Day" in the State of Illinois; and be it further
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 16 | | presented to the Illinois Association of REALTORS and all local |
| 17 | | realtors associations throughout the State of
Illinois.
