| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Antonio W. "Tony" Ferris of Peoria, who |
| 4 | | passed away on March 29, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris was born on June 25, 1939 in |
| 6 | | Peoria; his parents were Frederick and Cecelia |
| 7 | | Williams-Ferris; he married Nayibe "Naya" Salomon on December |
| 8 | | 10, 1960 in North Tonawanda, New York; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris grew up in Peoria on First Street |
| 10 | | in a house that was connected to Ferris Market, the family |
| 11 | | grocery store; he graduated from Spalding High School in 1958; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris served in the United States Army |
| 14 | | Reserve for six years; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris worked at Komatsu Mining System as |
| 16 | | a welder for 34 years until his retirement in 1998; he also |
| 17 | | worked as a mechanic for Travis and Egolf Cadillac and was a |
| 18 | | committeeman for the International Brotherhood Boiler Makers |
| 19 | | Union; following his retirement, he loved spending his time as |
| 20 | | a volunteer at Proctor Hospital and at local prisons |
| 21 | | ministering to inmates; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris was a loyal and active member of |
| 2 | | the Men's Itoo Society; he was actively involved in the St. |
| 3 | | Thomas Catholic Church Men's Club, serving as treasurer; he led |
| 4 | | the fundraising efforts for the church with Casino Nights, fish |
| 5 | | frys, and other events for many years; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris enjoyed fishing with his family and |
| 7 | | friends and playing cards in his long-standing Sunday game; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 9 | | Nayibe; his parents; his brother, Larry; and his son, Phillip; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Antonio Ferris is survived by his children, Denise |
| 12 | | Ferris (Chan-li Lin), Frederick Ferris, and Kevin (Danielle) |
| 13 | | Ferris; his grandchildren, Kylie Ferris, Abigayle Plutz, and |
| 14 | | Vincent Phillip Ferris, with another on the way; and his |
| 15 | | sisters, Susan Salomon and Jeannie Ferris; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Antonio W. "Tony" |
| 19 | | Ferris; and be it further
