SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Paul Wayne Dollins of Rantoul, who passed
4away on March 30, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Dollins was born in Benton to Virgil and
6Madeline Dollins on February 20, 1935; he graduated from Benton
7High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army; he
8earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Southern
9Illinois University in Carbondale; he married Judy Benner in
101962; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Paul Dollins began his career in law enforcement
12with the Illinois Division of Narcotic Control; he then joined
13the University of Illinois Police Department as an investigator
14before being named Chief of Police; he retired in 1995 after 25
15years with the University and continued to support law
16enforcement by lobbying for the Illinois Association of Chiefs
17of Police; he spent the final six years of his career as Chief
18of Police for the Village of Rantoul, retiring in 2005; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Paul Dollins was active in many community
20organizations; he was a longtime supporter of the University of
21Illinois and loved spending time with his children and
22grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Paul Dollins was preceded in death by his wife,
2Judy; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Paul Dollins is survived by his brother, Ronald
4Dollins; his three children, Beth (William) Wilkins, Matthew
5(Julie Lund) Dollins, and Sara (Chad) Hennigh; and his five
6grandchildren, Dillon and Dakota Jones, and Madeline, Andrew,
7and Catherine Dollins; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Paul Wayne Dollins, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Paul Dollins as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
