SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Lavon "Cy" Smith, who passed away on 
4March 20, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Lavon Smith was born on April 24, 1936 in 
6Dyersburg, Tennessee; his parents were Herman and Jessie Smith; 
7he lived in Joliet for 63 years; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Lavon Smith was the owner of Cy's Heating and 
9Cooling for many years until his retirement; his son Mike 
10subsequently took over the business; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Lavon Smith was preceded in death by his parents; 
12and

  
 
13    WHEREAS, Lavon Smith is survived by his loving wife of 62 
14years, Nell; he was the loving father of Mike (Judy) Smith and 
15Kay (Jim) Elmore; the grandfather of Michael, Jordon Smith, 
16Zach (Jackie) Ficarella, Steven (K.T.) Elmore, and Laura 
17(Dusty) Stratton; the great-grandfather of Nellie Stratton; 
18and the brother of Lavern (Jan) Long and Doris (John) Davis; 
19therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
2family and friends, mourn the passing of Lavon "Cy" Smith; and 
3be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to the family of Lavon Smith as an expression of our 
6sympathy.
