SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald A. Smith of Joliet, who passed
4away on April 14, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Smith was born in Chicago to Everett D. and
6Arla L. (Resler) Smith on December 8, 1934; he served in the
7United States Marine Corps; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Gerald Smith was a retired member of Local 150
9Heavy Equipment Operators and Crest Hill Public Works; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gerald Smith was a member of the Crest Hill Lions
11Club for many years; he was selected as Lion of the Year for
121973-1974; he enjoyed fishing, country music, playing Euchre
13and watching his sons play hockey and his daughter and
14granddaughters dance; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gerald Smith was preceded in death by his parents;
16his grandson, Ian Kasky; and his sister, Betty Ruth Provost;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gerald Smith is survived by his loving wife of 55
19years, Shirley A. (Restaino); his children, Glen (Lori) Smith,
20Jodi-Ann (Harvey) Kasky, and Troy (Dr. Jennifer) Smith; his

1grandchildren, Jeremy, Connor, and Jillian Smith, Julie-Ann,
2Hailey Rose, Kelsie Paige Kasky, and Jennifer (Kasky) Erickson,
3and Claire and Lee Brockway; his great-grandson, Jaxsen Zajac;
4his two sisters, Terri (Steven) Smith-Pfeiffer and Mary Etta
5Bechtel; his brother-in-law, James Restaino; and his nephew,
6Ereck Pfeiffer; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Gerald A. Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Gerald Smith as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
