SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Craig Allan Baird, who passed away on
4March 26, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Craig Baird was born on April 9, 1953 in Harvard;
6his parents were Donald and Mary Baird; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Craig Baird grew up in a small dairy town in
8Illinois; his mother ran Baird's Restaurant in downtown
9Harvard, where he worked with his brother Dick, his sister
10Jean, and his aunts; and
 
11    WHEREAS, In 1973, Craig Baird moved to Arizona, where he
12earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education; he then
13became an inspirational teacher who touched many lives in both
14Phoenix and the Prescott area for 33 years; following his
15retirement in 2008, he began focusing on what he really loved:
16family time, writing letters and poetry, reading, playing
17tennis, walking the courthouse, socializing with friends,
18daily crossword puzzles, and gardening and traveling with his
19wife; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sports were a major part of Craig Baird's life,
21starting with backyard baseball with his brother and continuing

1to high school athletics, city league ball, and leisurely play;
2throughout his childhood, he was exposed to Ernie and the Cubs,
3along with music and the arts in his many trips to Chicago with
4his Uncle Howard; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Craig Baird is survived by his wife, Debbie
6Kuhnke; his sons, Andrew (Brittany), Eamon, Dillon, and Seth
7Kuhnke (Ashley); his daughter, Kelcie Kuhnke; his sister, Jean
8Barnes (Roy); his sister-in-law, Esther; his grandchildren,
9Noe and Daisy; his wife from a previous marriage, Katie; and
10his mother-in-law, Phyllis Reddel; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Craig Allan Baird; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Craig Baird as an expression of our
17sympathy.
