SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard T. Vana of Des Plaines, who
4passed away on March 29, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Vana was born in Chicago on December 15,
61923; he served during World War II in the United States Marine
7Corps Pacific Area Command as a Marine Raider; he received a
8Purple Heart with two Congressional Commemorative Mentions;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Vana operated Community Cab in Des Plaines
11for many years before retiring; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Vana was a founding parishioner and active
13member of St. Stephen Protomartyr Church; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard Vana was the beloved husband of the late
15Marion R. (Cvikota); the loving father of Craig (Cindy),
16Mariann (Paul, Sr.) Bilodeau, Thomas (Mary Karen), Roy
17(Barbara), Pam (Tom) Erkel, Tim (Julie), Elizabeth "Libby"
18(Bill) Giovanni, Ellen (Joe) Ecker, Christopher, and Charles
19(Jill); the dear grandfather of 28 and great-grandfather of 19;
20and the fond uncle of Alyce Martinez and many nieces and
21nephews; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Richard T. Vana, and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Richard Vana as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
