| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Matthew C. Murrin of Silvis, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 15, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was born on September 20, 1924 in |
| 6 | | Moline; his parents were Michael J. and Mary C. Murrin; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin served his country in the United |
| 8 | | States Navy during World War II on the USS Cumberland and was |
| 9 | | among the first to enter Tokyo Bay; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin worked at I.H. Works in East Moline |
| 11 | | for 33 years until his retirement in 1981; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was a lifelong member of St. Mary's |
| 13 | | Church in Moline and was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; he was a |
| 14 | | past-president and charter member of the National Corvette Club |
| 15 | | and was one of the founders of the Midwest Corvette Car Club; |
| 16 | | and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was preceded in death by his |
| 18 | | parents; two sisters; and two brothers; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin is survived by his sisters, |
