SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are pleased to 
3recognize the Village of
Rosemont on its milestone 60th 
4anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Rosemont has grown tremendously from its original 
6beginnings as an unincorporated area
in 1956 to the 
7entertainment destination and economic engine it has become 
8today; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, For every dollar the State of Illinois provides to 
10the Village of Rosemont, the Village of
Rosemont returns more 
11than ten times that amount to Springfield; in 2015, the Village 
12of Rosemont
returned $85 million to the State of Illinois; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, There are more than 18,000 private sector jobs in 
14Rosemont that generate more than $40
million in income tax 
15revenue for the State of Illinois; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Businesses located in Rosemont generate more than 
17$900 million from conventions, trade
shows, restaurants, 
18hotels, shopping, and entertainment; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Rosemont's Allstate Arena is ranked number 3 in 
20attendance for family and music events in the United
States;

2    WHEREAS, The Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference 
3Center attracts more than one million
visitors annually, 
4providing hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity 
5to the region; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Rosemont has been an economic engine for the State 
7of Illinois for more than five decades;
the village offers 
8superior services and low taxes to its citizens; therefore, be 
9it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate June 19, 
122016 as Village of Rosemont Day to commemorate its rich 60 
13years of history and wish them success and prosperity in the 
14future; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the Village of Rosemont as a
symbol of our esteem 
17and respect.
