| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Betty Stephano of Batavia, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 24, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was born on December 6, 1924 in |
| 6 | | Dubuque, Iowa; her parents were George and Amelia Glasser; she |
| 7 | | married Joseph Stephano on November 25, 1944 in Batavia; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was a founding member of the |
| 9 | | Batavia Historical Society; as a friendly and loving citizen of |
| 10 | | Batavia, she served as the welcome mat hostess for the Batavia |
| 11 | | Chamber, welcoming new residents to town; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was a member of the St. Charles |
| 13 | | Country Club, the Batavia Woman's Club, and Holy Cross Catholic |
| 14 | | Church; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was affectionately known as "Candy |
| 16 | | Granny" for her love of children and spoiling them with candy; |
| 17 | | she loved history, classical music, golfing, her family, and |
| 18 | | her home where she lived for 51 years; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Betty Stephano is survived by her husband, Joseph; |
| 20 | | her children, Joseph (Cathy) Stephano II, Thomas (Donna) |
