SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty Stephano of Batavia, who passed
4away on April 24, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was born on December 6, 1924 in
6Dubuque, Iowa; her parents were George and Amelia Glasser; she
7married Joseph Stephano on November 25, 1944 in Batavia; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was a founding member of the
9Batavia Historical Society; as a friendly and loving citizen of
10Batavia, she served as the welcome mat hostess for the Batavia
11Chamber, welcoming new residents to town; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was a member of the St. Charles
13Country Club, the Batavia Woman's Club, and Holy Cross Catholic
14Church; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was affectionately known as "Candy
16Granny" for her love of children and spoiling them with candy;
17she loved history, classical music, golfing, her family, and
18her home where she lived for 51 years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Betty Stephano is survived by her husband, Joseph;
20her children, Joseph (Cathy) Stephano II, Thomas (Donna)

1Stephano, Robert (David Kaszynski) Stephano, and Sara (Elvin)
2Harms; her grandchildren, Kevin and Amanda Stephano, Elizabeth
3Stephano, Cara (Conor) Boyle, Tommy (Rebecca) Stephano, and
4Samuel (Jennifer) and Nathaniel Harms; her
5great-grandchildren, Dylan and Cody Boyle; and her sister,
6Patricia Bowron; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Betty Stephano was preceded in death by her
8parents and her sister, Virginia Robertson; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Betty Stephano; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Betty Stephano as an expression of
15our sympathy.
