| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Loretta Bobrowski-Block, who passed away |
| 4 | | on March 31, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block was born in Sand Rock |
| 6 | | (Hurley), Wisconsin on June 3, 1922; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, After graduating high school at age 17, Loretta |
| 8 | | Bobrowski-Block moved in with her sister in Philadelphia, |
| 9 | | Pennsylvania to find work; they then moved to Chicago, where |
| 10 | | she worked as a waitress and did office work; she married Bill |
| 11 | | Bobrowski, a United States Navy sailor with whom she had been |
| 12 | | corresponding during World War II, in 1946; she and her husband |
| 13 | | opened a grocery business; she later married Albert Block; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block worked as a medical |
| 15 | | transcriptionist at the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes; she |
| 16 | | retired in 1988; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Loretta Bobrowski-Block enjoyed spending time |
| 18 | | with her immediate family and very dear friend, Mary Pfahl; she |
| 19 | | always enjoyed being hostess; her coffee pot was always ready |
| 20 | | along with lots of cookies; and
