SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leo Presley, Sr., who passed away on
4April 6, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leo Presley, Sr. was born on April 20, 1950 in
6Waukegan; his parents were Rufus and Lucille Presley; he
7married the love of his life, Sherian Coburn Presley, on
8November 17, 1973; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Leo Presley, Sr. graduated from North Chicago
10Community High School in the class of 1969, where he was an
11excellent basketball player; he began his work life at Abbott
12Pharmaceutical as a young man; afterwards, he spent the next 30
13years working at Allstate in various managerial positions; his
14last job before he officially retired was at Lake Forest
15Hospital, where he was a respected supervisor; following his
16retirement, he did part time work driving, scorekeeping, and
17working as a golf course assistant; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Leo Presley, Sr. enjoyed watching sports,
19golfing, bowling, and softball; he was a referee for basketball
20and soccer matches; he was also the co-founder of the Outcasts
21softball team and a member of the Sunset Bowling Team; he was a
22member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in North Chicago; and

1    WHEREAS, Leo Presley, Sr. was preceded in death by his
2parents; his wife, Sherian; his daughter, Angelique Presley;
3his sisters, Mattie Frazier and Elnora Presley; his brother,
4Robert Presley; and his nephews, Franklin Presley, Ladelwyn
5Perkins, and Rufus Presley III; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Leo Presley, Sr. is survived by his sons, Leo
7(Taye) Presley, Jr. and Ransley Presley; his grandchildren,
8Chynia Cutrer, Camdon Presley, and Carrington Presley; his
9sisters, Jeannie Presley, Irene (Bill) Mayfield, Dorothy
10(Acho) Ingram, Ruthia (Bill) Mayo, and Maria (Tony) Callahan;
11his brothers, Rufus (Betty) Presley, Henry (Terry) Presley, and
12Leroy (Regina) Presley; his godchildren, Joey Harris, Jackie
13Harris, Michelle Evans, and Jalen Johnson; and many nieces,
14nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Leo Presley, Sr.; and
18be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Leo Presley, Sr. as an expression of
21our sympathy.
