SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Billy J. Burks of North Chicago, who
4passed away on March 5, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Billy Burks was born in Mexia, Texas to Elijah
6Burks Jr. and Lurlean Adams on September 3, 1944; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Billy Burks retired from OMC and Gurnee School
8District 56; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Billy Burks enjoyed building computers and
10spending time with his grandchildren; he was active at Mt.
11Sinai Institutional Baptist Church of North Chicago with the
12Usher Ministry for many years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Billy Burks was preceded in death by his parents,
14and his brothers, Mack Edward Burks and Elijah Burks III; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Billy Burks is survived by his wife of 49 years,
16Harrie (Burks); his son, Rodottes (Bertha) Burks; his daughter,
17Quanisha Burks; his two sisters, Nevada (Elmo) Hawkins and
18Nylene Bigham; his brother, Tennyson Burks; his four
19grandchildren, Shaniqua, Zaira, Nathan, and Demetrius; his
20four sisters-in-law, Ollie Pearl Payne, Ida Nabors, Ethel

1Nabors, and Margaret Nell Burks; his brother-in-law, Pastor
2John E. (Katherine) Nabors; his lifelong friends, Lawrence
3Domino, Pastor A.L. Douglas Sr., Pete Curry, Norman Curry,
4Herbert, Ronnie Barnett, Andrew Alston, and Phillip Moore; his
5special daughter, Rose Mary West; his special cousin, Francine;
6and a host of other family and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Billy J. Burks, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Billy Burks as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
