SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Norma Charlotte Anderson of Woodstock,
4who passed away on April 18, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson was born in Greenwood Township to
6Emor Stillman and Amelia (Schroeder) Doolittle on November 10,
71923; she married Glenn "Andy" Elliot Anderson in Wonder Lake
8on May 7, 1954; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson retired in January of 1979 after a
10career of over 35 years with the Internal Revenue Service in
11Chicago, where she was a Personnel Management Specialist, Tax
12Examiner, and Auditor; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson was a member of the First United
14Methodist Church of Woodstock, and a life-member of the McHenry
15County Historical Society, where she worked as a volunteer for
16many years; she was also a member of various genealogical
17societies; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In October of 2000, Norma Anderson received the
19Volunteer of the Year Award from the Illinois Association of
20Museums; the Quilters of the McHenry County Historical Society
21dedicated their 2005 quilt to her in recognition of her many

1years of service; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson served as Secretary of Doolittle's
3of America from 1987 to 1993 and as Secretary of Goff, Goffe,
4Goughes, and their ancestors and descendants from 1989 to 1993;
5she was a member of the Executive Council from 1994 to 1997 and
6served on the Oakland Cemetery Board for many years; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson was a Life-Member of the National
8Society Daughters of the American Revolution, where she had
9been Regent and Honorary Ex-Regent of the Kishwaukee Trail
10Chapter NSDAR and held various other offices; she was also a
11member of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson enjoyed spending time with
13friends, especially the Greenwood Lunch Bunch, the Methodist
14Lunch Bunch, and Crazy Hats; she also enjoyed transcribing old
15handwritten documents at the McHenry County Recorder's Office
16and at the McHenry County Historical Society; she and her
17husband traveled extensively, including a trip to Australia and
18New Zealand; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson was preceded in death by her
20husband, Glenn "Andy" Elliot Anderson; her parents; her sister,
21Norine Mathey; her brother-in-law, Charles Mathey; and an
22infant brother, James Emor Doolittle; and

1    WHEREAS, Norma Anderson is survived by her godson, Gary Lee
2VanLanduyt, and many beloved nieces and nephews; therefore, be
3it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Norma Charlotte Anderson, and extend our sincere condolences to
7her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Norma Anderson as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
