2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Minevar Ramsey, who passed away on May |
4 | | 16, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey was born in DeKalb, Mississippi to |
6 | | Estella Stennis
and Henry Ramsey on July 27, 1933; she joined |
7 | | Mount Zion
Missionary Baptist Church in 1944, where she worked |
8 | | with the Usher Board and the Young Adult Choir; she attended |
9 | | John Robinson and Washington Elementary
Schools, Hughes Quinn |
10 | | Junior High, and graduated from Lincoln
Senior High School on |
11 | | January 24, 1952; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey pursued a career
as a clerk for |
13 | | School District 189 until she retired in 1981; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey loved working in her garden and |
15 | | backyard; she
was an elegant woman of style who loved fashion |
16 | | and decorating; she had a passion for cooking and spent |
17 | | numerous
hours baking her favorite sweet potato and apple pies |
18 | | and
her famous greens; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey was preceded in death by her |
20 | | parents;
her sisters, Daisy and Mattie; and
her brothers, |
21 | | Hollis, Fred, Henry Jr.,
Stennis, and Sam; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey is survived by her sons, Marquis

2 | | (Lametria) Ramsey and Kevin (Doreen) Ramsey; her |

Tamara Gibbs, Kajavia Ramsey, Samiya Ramsey, |
4 | | Tresnae
Ramsey, and Amariell Ramsey; her grandsons, Marquis |
5 | | Ramsey
Jr. and De'Dre Ramsey; her step-grandson, Jerrod Cross; |
6 | | her
great-granddaughters, Keyontae Gibbs, Brittany Jennings, |
7 | | Samya
Jennings, Tamna Jennings, and Markal Ramsey; her |
8 | | great-grandson,
Ramonte Gibbs; her great-great-granddaughter, |
9 | | Naomi
Mosley; her great-great-grandson, Ashton Gibbs; her |
10 | | special nephew,
Brady Lee Nunn; her special niece, Wendy |
11 | | McClain; her life-long
childhood friend, Lillian Blackmon; and |
12 | | numerous loving relatives and friends; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Minevar Ramsey, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Minevar Ramsey as an expression of |
20 | | our deepest sympathy.
