| 2 | | WHEREAS, Automated traffic law enforcement systems were |
| 3 | | justified as public and vehicle safety tools; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Studies have shown that annual crashes have |
| 5 | | remained about the same before and after the installation of |
| 6 | | the cameras; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Municipal officials and camera company executives |
| 8 | | have been arrested in red light camera corruption schemes; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, It is a goal of this body to provide greater |
| 10 | | transparency and accountability in automated traffic law |
| 11 | | enforcement systems; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Auditor General is |
| 14 | | directed to conduct an audit of evaluating automated traffic |
| 15 | | law enforcement systems in this State; and be it further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That the audit include, but not be limited to, |
| 17 | | the overall operation, usage, and regulation of the automated |
| 18 | | traffic law enforcement systems and any other information or |
| 19 | | recommendations the Auditor General deems necessary; and be it |
| 20 | | further |
