| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Kim Splain of Jacksonville, who passed |
| 4 | | away on May 21, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain was born on November 25, 1952 in |
| 6 | | Jacksonville; his parents were Freddie and Norma Jean Bartlett |
| 7 | | Splain; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain served as a paratrooper in the United |
| 9 | | States Army during the Vietnam War and was proud to have walked |
| 10 | | to Washington, D.C., in 1981 to raise funds for the Vietnam |
| 11 | | Veterans Memorial; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain was a salesman at Front Row in |
| 13 | | Jacksonville for many years; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain was a 37-year member of American Legion |
| 15 | | Post 279 in Jacksonville and served as Commander for 14 years; |
| 16 | | he was also a member of Sons of the American Legion; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain loved adventure, whether it was jumping |
| 18 | | out of an airplane or zip-lining with his buddy Joe; he loved |
| 19 | | to travel, especially to Hawaii and Bermuda with his companion; |
| 20 | | he also enjoyed watching "The Rifleman", NASCAR, and "The |
