| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Elwanda Marie Ebel; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Elwanda Ebel was born on February 11, 1922 in | ||||||
5 | Locke, Arkansas; her parents were Carl and Ethal Pilcher; she | ||||||
6 | married Albert Ebel II on August 29, 1942; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Elwanda Ebel was not only her husband's helpmate | ||||||
8 | on the farm for many years, she was very active in her church, | ||||||
9 | community, and children's activities; she was a longtime member | ||||||
10 | of the Marengo Grange, where she served as lecturer before | ||||||
11 | moving and joining the Riley Grange; she held county and State | ||||||
12 | offices, attended State Grange as a delegate, and served as | ||||||
13 | Master's Wife at the county level; she never missed helping out | ||||||
14 | at the turkey dinners, bake sales, and the county fair food | ||||||
15 | tent; she and her family installed officers for the Granges | ||||||
16 | around the state line for many years; she also worked at | ||||||
17 | Wisted's Deli in Marengo and shared her wonderful recipes for | ||||||
18 | potato salad and baked beans; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Elwanda Ebel was a wonderful cook and was able to | ||||||
20 | bless people with her skills of cooking; she won many blue | ||||||
21 | ribbons for her pies, breads, crocheted afghans, and sewing; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Elwanda Ebel served as a deaconess and on many | ||||||
2 | boards at the First Baptist Church of Marengo; she was the | ||||||
3 | "Egg-Fryer Queen" of the May Breakfast for many years; she was | ||||||
4 | in charge of the Wednesday Night Family Dinner and never failed | ||||||
5 | to produce a wonderful home-cooked meal for the crowd; she was | ||||||
6 | a gifted cake decorator and made many brides and anniversary | ||||||
7 | couples happy; she was also a "Tops" member for many years and | ||||||
8 | became a "Kops" for 19 years; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Elwanda Ebel was preceded in death by her husband | ||||||
10 | of 71 years, Albert, and her brothers, James, Robert, and Kurt | ||||||
11 | Perryman; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Elwanda Ebel is survived by her son, Albert (Linda | ||||||
13 | Kay) Ebel III; her daughters, Dorene (Milan) Reimer and Carla | ||||||
14 | (Richard) Walter; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; | ||||||
15 | her sister, Winnie Evelyn Sullivan; her brother, Ralph | ||||||
16 | Perryman; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
19 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Elwanda Marie Ebel; | ||||||
20 | and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

1 | presented to the family of Elwanda Ebel as an expression of our | ||||||
2 | sympathy.
