SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Sylvester A. "Sam" McCabe of Colona, who 
4passed away on June 8, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe was born on March 23, 1935 in 
6Cresco, Iowa; his parents were Benedict and Rose Lannen McCabe; 
7he married Janice Reeder on January 4, 1958 in Decorah, Iowa; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe served in the United States 
10Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957; he was the recipient of the 
11National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe worked at John Deere Harvester in 
13East Moline, retiring after 35 years of service; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe served on the Colona City 
15Council; he served as president and coach of Colona Little 
16League and as president of the Colona School Board; he was also 
17Cub Master for Cub Scouts and an active member of the Lions 
18Club; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe was preceded in death by his 
20parents and five siblings; and

1    WHEREAS, Sylvester McCabe is survived by his wife, Janice; 
2his children, Kevin (Diana) McCabe, Jay (Bao) McCabe, Rick 
3McCabe, and Kristen Crimmins; his grandchildren, James 
4(Nicole) McCabe, Shelly Christensen, Mitchell (Sarah) McCabe, 
5Brittany (Ben) Junis, and Danielle Patterson; and 12 
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Sylvester A. "Sam" 
10McCabe; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Sylvester McCabe as an expression of 
13our sympathy.
