SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leroy Alphonse "Lee" Alfano, who passed
4away on June 15, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano was born in Chicago to Alfonso Alfano
6and Grace Vitacco on February 6, 1925; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano worked for the Des Plaines Police
8Department for 30 years; he retired in 1985 after seven years
9as Chief; he oversaw the biggest case in department history -
10the investigation into John Wayne Gacy in 1978; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano spent his retirement on his ranch in
12Prescott, Arizona, where he achieved his dream of becoming a
13cowboy and enjoyed riding horses with his wife; his ranch
14provided horses for children with special needs through a
15church youth group; he was a member of the Yavapai County
16Mounted Sheriff's Posse; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano was preceded in death by his wife of
1867 years, Janet (Esdohr); his sisters, Minnie, Rose, and
19Lillian; and his parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano is survived by his son, Jerry (Edie);

1his daughter, Jody Peterson; his grandsons, Craig (Rachel),
2Eric Yingling, and Scott (Jenny) Yingling; his
3great-grandsons, Zane and Bridger Peterson; and numerous
4nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Leroy Alphonse "Lee" Alfano, and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Leroy Alfano as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
