SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lillie Pearl Williams, who passed away on
4June 19, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lillie Williams was born on July 27, 1927 in
6Greenwood, Mississippi; her parents were George and Lillie
7Stigler; after the death of her parents, her older sister and
8brother-in-law moved the family to Chicago in 1942; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lillie Williams worked for a fur company for many
10years and was able to look at mink coats and tell if they were
11real; she was later employed at the Brach's Candy Company; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lillie Williams accepted Christ as her Lord and
13Savior at an early age; she later joined Proviso Missionary
14Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Claude Porter; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lillie Williams' home was always open to family
16members who needed her help; she enjoyed being around her good
17friends and family, especially her sisters; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lillie Williams was preceded in death by her
19husband, Walter Williams; her parents; four sisters; and two
20brothers; and

1    WHEREAS, Lillie Williams is survived by her children,
2Walter, Jr., Lawrence, and Gloria Jean; her grandchildren and
3great-grandchildren; her sisters, Clara Hood and Lula (Evelyn)
4Strickland; her sister-in-law, Derethia Stigler; and many
5nephews, nieces and friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Lillie Pearl Williams;
9and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Lillie Williams as an expression of
12our sympathy.
