SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Beth M. Shannon of Geneva, who passed
4away on June 12, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Beth Shannon was born in Antigo, Wisconsin to
6Francis and Donna (Matzke) Gilson on February 5, 1962; she
7earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University
8of Wisconsin-Eau Claire; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Beth Shannon was passionate about teaching and was
10a longtime 5th grade teacher at Western Avenue School in
11Geneva; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Beth Shannon enjoyed baking and shopping and had a
13beautiful flower garden every year; she also loved spending
14time with her family; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Beth Shannon was preceded in death by her
16father-in-law, Hugh Shannon, and her sister-in-law, Angela
17Shannon; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Beth Shannon is survived by her loving husband of
1928 years, Dan; her children, Eryn and Bret; her parents; her
20brothers and sisters, Tom Gilson, Nancy Gilson, David (Katie)

1Gilson, and Sue (Michael) Felder; her mother-in-law, Jean
2Shannon; her sisters-in-law, Heather (Rob) Baker and Tam (Joe)
3Stegall; her nieces and nephews, Annabel, Ainsleigh, Cade,
4Cole, Corey, Alex, Rachel, James, Nick, Luke, Stephanie, Emily,
5and Casey; and many dear friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Beth M. Shannon, and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Beth Shannon as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
