| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of E. Allan Englehardt of Lake Bluff, who |
| 4 | | passed away on May 9, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Allan Englehardt grew up in the Chicago area and |
| 6 | | graduated from Highland Park High School; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a degree in |
| 8 | | aviation; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Allan Englehardt had a long career as a pilot for |
| 10 | | United Airlines; he was a designated pilot examiner for the |
| 11 | | Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) out of the Chicago |
| 12 | | Executive Airport in Wheeling, where he later served as |
| 13 | | Chairman of the Board; he operated his own ground school |
| 14 | | program from 1974 until 1989; he was part of the successful |
| 15 | | lobbying effort to get the FAA to raise the retirement age for |
| 16 | | airline pilots from 60 to 65; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Allan Englehardt stepped down from the Chicago |
| 18 | | Executive Airport in 2013 but remained active at the airport, |
| 19 | | including as a member of its flying club; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Allan Englehardt enjoyed visiting Civil War |
| 21 | | sites, riding his motorcycle, attending live theater and |
