SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Jo Ann Cowles of Springfield, who passed 
4away on June 24, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Cowles was born in Petersburg to Gilbert 
6and Freda Stull on August 4, 1937; she moved to Springfield in 
71942; she graduated from Springfield High School in 1955 and 
8married William J. Cowles that same year; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Cowles retired in 1999 from the State of 
10Illinois after 28 years of service; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Cowles was active at Concordia Lutheran 
12Church for 35 years; she belonged to the Prayer Chain, the 
13Lunch Bunch, and various Bible study groups; she joined Our 
14Savior's Lutheran Church in April of 2011 and belonged to the 
15Prayer Chain there as well and the Seekers Bible group; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Cowles was preceded in death by her parents 
17and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Cowles is survived by her daughters, Bonnie 
19(Jim) Williams, and Kris Grove; her sons, William G. (Susan) 
20Cowles, and Michael (Sheila) Cowles; nine  grandchildren; and

1one great-grandchild; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Jo Ann Cowles, and extend our sincere condolences to her 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to  the family of  Jo Ann Cowles as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
