SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Genevieve Helen "Jean" Mateja Beetschen, formerly of Wadsworth, who passed away on May 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was born in Waukegan to Helen and Joseph Mateja on August 2, 1930; she graduated from Holy Rosary Grade School and Holy Child High School; she married William D. Beetschen at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago on July 4, 1954; and

WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was employed at the Park Theater in North Chicago, the US Steel-Cyclone Fence Division in North Chicago, the Coonahan Door Company in North Chicago, Jobs Inc. in Waukegan, the Illinois Beach Resort and Conference Center in Beach Park, and the Lake County Assessor' s Office in Waukegan; she was the co-owner of Regal Press Printers in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was a former member of Holy Rosary and Holy Family Church, a current member of St. Patrick's Church, and occasionally attended Journey Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin; she was a faithful television parishioner of the Heart of the Nation Catholic Church Service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; she was a former member of the Holy Family Church Altar and Rosary Society, Holy Child Alumni Club, the North Chicago Jaycee's Ladies Auxiliary, the St. Patrick's Church Funeral Luncheon Committee, and St. Patrick's Shamrocks; she was also a former den mother with North Chicago Cub Scout Pack 26, and was very active in all social activities at Prairie Villa Senior Residence; she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching old movies, and listening to her fire and police scanner; she had deep affection for angels and collected angel figurines; and

WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; her twin brother, Joseph; and her best friend for over 60 years, Joan Thompson; and

WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen is survived by her children, William J. (Therese) Beetschen, Shari A. Kordecki, and Dean (Kelly) Beetschen; her grandchildren, Samantha, Cassandra, David, Derek, Halley, and Tanner; and her great-grandchildren, Caeli, Caia, Amy, Kyla, Ryan, Brayden, Collyn, Alexa, and Haley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Genevieve Helen "Jean" Mateja Beetschen, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Genevieve Beetschen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
