SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Genevieve Helen "Jean" Mateja Beetschen,
4formerly of Wadsworth, who passed away on May 17, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was born in Waukegan to Helen
6and Joseph Mateja on August 2, 1930; she graduated from Holy
7Rosary Grade School and Holy Child High School; she married
8William D. Beetschen at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago on
9July 4, 1954; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was employed at the Park
11Theater in North Chicago, the US Steel-Cyclone Fence Division
12in North Chicago, the Coonahan Door Company in North Chicago,
13Jobs Inc. in Waukegan, the Illinois Beach Resort and Conference
14Center in Beach Park, and the Lake County Assessor' s Office in
15Waukegan; she was the co-owner of Regal Press Printers in North
16Chicago; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was a former member of Holy
18Rosary and Holy Family Church, a current member of St.
19Patrick's Church, and occasionally attended Journey Church in
20Kenosha, Wisconsin; she was a faithful television parishioner
21of the Heart of the Nation Catholic Church Service in
22Milwaukee, Wisconsin; she was a former member of the Holy

1Family Church Altar and Rosary Society, Holy Child Alumni Club,
2the North Chicago Jaycee's Ladies Auxiliary, the St. Patrick's
3Church Funeral Luncheon Committee, and St. Patrick's
4Shamrocks; she was also a former den mother with North Chicago
5Cub Scout Pack 26, and was very active in all social activities
6at Prairie Villa Senior Residence; she especially loved
7spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
8watching old movies, and listening to her fire and police
9scanner; she had deep affection for angels and collected angel
10figurines; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was preceded in death by her
12husband, William; her parents; her twin brother, Joseph; and
13her best friend for over 60 years, Joan Thompson; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen is survived by her children,
15William J. (Therese) Beetschen, Shari A. Kordecki, and Dean
16(Kelly) Beetschen; her grandchildren, Samantha, Cassandra,
17David, Derek, Halley, and Tanner; and her great-grandchildren,
18Caeli, Caia, Amy, Kyla, Ryan, Brayden, Collyn, Alexa, and
19Haley; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Genevieve Helen "Jean" Mateja Beetschen, and extend our sincere
23condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Genevieve Beetschen as an expression
