2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of James E. Blair of Erie, who passed away |
4 | | on July 31, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, James Blair was born in rural Scott
County to |
6 | | James Harlie and Flora Belle Walker Blair on March 11, 1928; he |
7 | | served in the United States Marine Corps during both World War |
8 | | II and the Korean War; he married Jean Ann Rose at
Erie Baptist |
9 | | Church on May 23, 1959; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, James Blair worked in various industries, |
11 | | including 27 years at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline |
12 | | as a millwright; he was a commercial sign painter and artist |
13 | | and mechanic; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, James Blair's hobbies included woodworking, |
15 | | general carpentry, and electrical projects; for many years, he |
16 | | helped with the Rose Farm apple business, selling apples and |
17 | | caring for approximately 24 trees; he was involved in building |
18 | | projects and sign painting at King's Camp in Chana and Newton |
19 | | Zion Reformed Church in rural Erie; he was an avid camper and |
20 | | loved spending time with his family and friends at King's Camp; |

1 | | WHEREAS, James Blair was a member of Newton Zion Reformed |
2 | | Church, where he served as an elder and deacon; he served on |
3 | | the board at his church, Resthave Home in Morrison, and King's |
4 | | Camp; he served as a troop leader for the Erie Boy Scout Troop |
5 | | 101 and was a United Auto Workers Local 865 member; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, James Blair was preceded in death by his parents; |
7 | | his grandson, Timothy Lofgren; three brothers; and seven |
8 | | sisters; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, James Blair is survived by his wife, Jean Ann |
10 | | Blair; his children, David (Marilyn) Blair, Kathy
|
11 | | (Christopher) Lofgren, Carolyn Jean Blair, and Linda (Imad) |
12 | | Al-Suleiman; his grandchildren, David (Lindsie) Blair, Thomas |
13 | | (Angela) Blair, Aaron Blair, Monica (Markus) Underwood, Kelli |
14 | | (Andrew) Beall, Emili (Daniel) Utz, Rebecca Behnami, Matthew |
15 | | Behnami, Mohammed Al-Suleiman, Amirah Al-Suleiman, and |
16 | | Muhanned Al-Suleiman; and six great-grandchildren; therefore, |

18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
20 | | James E. Blair, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
