|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of John E. "Jack" Schultz of Galena, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 22, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Schultz was born on May 23, 1929 in Boone, |
| 6 | | Iowa; his parents were John Carl and Iva Schultz; he married |
| 7 | | Wendy Palka on November 20, 1985 in Waukegan; he and his wife |
| 8 | | had lived in Waukegan, Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, and Siesta |
| 9 | | Key, Florida before moving to Galena; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, In his youth, John Schultz enjoyed summers at |
| 11 | | Lowell Park in Dixon, where he was a lifeguard for many years; |
| 12 | | he graduated from Dixon High School and Beloit College, where |
| 13 | | he was a member of the TKE Fraternity; he furthered his |
| 14 | | education at the University of Illinois and the University of |
| 15 | | Louisville Law School; he was a great athlete and a member of |
| 16 | | his high school and college football and track teams; he was |
| 17 | | also very proud to have participated in the Purdue University |
| 18 | | and Drake Relays; after law school, he served in the United |
| 19 | | States Navy; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, John Schultz was a successful attorney and served |
| 21 | | as Corporation Counsel for the City of Waukegan for 30 years; |
| 22 | | and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, John Schultz was a member of the Waukegan City |
| 2 | | Club, the Waukegan Yacht Club, and the Medinah Shriners; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, John Schultz was an avid boater and spent many |
| 4 | | summers traveling Lake Michigan with his daughters as his crew; |
| 5 | | he also enjoyed his dogs, his cigars, Door County, Wisconsin, |
| 6 | | shopping, collecting, and giving nicknames and playing |
| 7 | | "littleman" with his grandchildren; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, John Schultz was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 9 | | his sister, Betty Jane; his grandson, Brady Booth; and his |
| 10 | | mother-in-law, Ann Preston; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, John Schultz is survived by his wife, Wendy; his |
| 12 | | daughters, Laurie (Scott) Booth, Carla Schultz, and Jocko |
| 13 | | (Chuck) Blair; his stepsons, Erik (Marika) Wasmund, Matt |
| 14 | | (Carrie) Wasmund, and Peter (Frayah) Wasmund; and 12 |
| 15 | | grandchildren; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of John E. "Jack" |
| 19 | | Schultz; and be it further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
