SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John E. "Jack" Schultz of Galena, who
4passed away on July 22, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Schultz was born on May 23, 1929 in Boone,
6Iowa; his parents were John Carl and Iva Schultz; he married
7Wendy Palka on November 20, 1985 in Waukegan; he and his wife
8had lived in Waukegan, Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, and Siesta
9Key, Florida before moving to Galena; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In his youth, John Schultz enjoyed summers at
11Lowell Park in Dixon, where he was a lifeguard for many years;
12he graduated from Dixon High School and Beloit College, where
13he was a member of the TKE Fraternity; he furthered his
14education at the University of Illinois and the University of
15Louisville Law School; he was a great athlete and a member of
16his high school and college football and track teams; he was
17also very proud to have participated in the Purdue University
18and Drake Relays; after law school, he served in the United
19States Navy; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Schultz was a successful attorney and served
21as Corporation Counsel for the City of Waukegan for 30 years;
22and

1    WHEREAS, John Schultz was a member of the Waukegan City
2Club, the Waukegan Yacht Club, and the Medinah Shriners; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Schultz was an avid boater and spent many
4summers traveling Lake Michigan with his daughters as his crew;
5he also enjoyed his dogs, his cigars, Door County, Wisconsin,
6shopping, collecting, and giving nicknames and playing
7"littleman" with his grandchildren; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Schultz was preceded in death by his parents;
9his sister, Betty Jane; his grandson, Brady Booth; and his
10mother-in-law, Ann Preston; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Schultz is survived by his wife, Wendy; his
12daughters, Laurie (Scott) Booth, Carla Schultz, and Jocko
13(Chuck) Blair; his stepsons, Erik (Marika) Wasmund, Matt
14(Carrie) Wasmund, and Peter (Frayah) Wasmund; and 12
15grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
18family and friends, mourn the passing of John E. "Jack"
19Schultz; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
