| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Arthur Earl Schulz, who passed away on |
| 4 | | July 24, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz was born on January 17, 1923; his |
| 6 | | parents were Bernard C. Schulz and Mary H. Schulz; he married |
| 7 | | Dorothy Nicolet on October 7, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic |
| 8 | | Church in Alton; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz attended St. Mary's Grade School in |
| 10 | | Alton and Marquette High School, where he graduated in 1940; |
| 11 | | and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Answering his country's call at the outbreak of |
| 13 | | World War II, Arthur Schulz was inducted into the United States |
| 14 | | Army Air Corps, where he earned his pilot's wings and an |
| 15 | | officer's commission; he served with distinction in the Pacific |
| 16 | | Theater from 1944 to 1946, earning numerous combat citations as |
| 17 | | a P-38 fighter pilot with the famed 475th Fighter Group; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, After the war, Arthur Schulz had a long and |
| 19 | | successful professional career as a sales service manager for |
| 20 | | the Owens-Illinois Glass Company; and
