| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Dr. Frank James Kerous IV, who passed |
| 4 | | away on July 29, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Kerous was born to Frank and Lucille |
| 6 | | (Christopher) Kerous on March 26, 1940; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Morton High School in 1957, where he excelled at academics and |
| 8 | | swimming and was the editor in chief of the 1957 Mortonian |
| 9 | | yearbook; he attended Knox College in Galesburg, where he |
| 10 | | continued to swim with the swimming team; he was also a member |
| 11 | | of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity; he married Sandra Erland |
| 12 | | on March 16, 1968; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Kerous attended the University of Illinois at |
| 14 | | Chicago, where he obtained a doctoral degree in dental surgery, |
| 15 | | followed by two years of specialty training in periodontics; he |
| 16 | | was one of the first periodontists in the Chicago suburbs, |
| 17 | | maintaining offices in Arlington Heights and Oak Brook for many |
| 18 | | years; he began teaching at the University of Illinois at |
| 19 | | Chicago in 1964, where he spent 38 years in the Department of |
| 20 | | Periodontics, eventually becoming a tenured faculty member; |
| 21 | | after retirement, he was the Clinical Director of Periodontics |
| 22 | | and spent most of his time preparing senior students for board |
| 23 | | examination; he and his wife opened and operated McDonald's |
