SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wilbert Henry Gerrish of Woodstock, who
4passed away on August 7, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish was born in Chicago to Karlton and
6Clara (Parnitke) Gerrish on May 7, 1929; he joined the United
7States Army at 17 and served during the Korean War; he married
8Jeanette Watts; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish was a 12-year resident of Rogers
10Park; he moved to McHenry for 20 years and then to Woodstock in
112013; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish owned and operated a Chicago
13restaurant for two years; he spent 15 years as a Chicago
14Transit Authority (CTA) bus driver, 12 years as a CTA motorman,
15and seven years as a CTA motorman instructor; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish enjoyed World War II history and
17collecting soldier figurines; he and his wife were avid square
18dancers and members of the Woodstock Squares; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish was preceded in death by his
20parents; his siblings, Helen, Naomi, and James Gerrish; and his

1stepchildren, Anne Carpenter and Laura Von Hoffen; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish is survived by his wife, Jeanette;
3his three children, Kevin (Linda) Gerrish, Ellen (Dave) Holst,
4and Ann (Jeff) McGinnis; his stepchildren, William Von Hoffen,
5Ruth Minarcik, Cathy Holms, Robert Von Hoffen, and Christine
6Claus; his grandchildren, Brian, Nicholas, and Christopher
7Chiodo, Sean and Kelly Gerrish, Scott McGinnis, Rachel Holst,
8Tracy and Scott Batdorf, Angela and Robert DiNardo, Kyle
9Minarcik, and Spencer and Kaitlyn Gonzalez; and three
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Wilbert Henry Gerrish, and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Wilbert Gerrish as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
