2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Wilbert Henry Gerrish of Woodstock, who |
4 | | passed away on August 7, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish was born in Chicago to Karlton and |
6 | | Clara (Parnitke) Gerrish on May 7, 1929; he joined the United |
7 | | States Army at 17 and served during the Korean War; he married |
8 | | Jeanette Watts; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish was a 12-year resident of Rogers |
10 | | Park; he moved to McHenry for 20 years and then to Woodstock in |
11 | | 2013; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish owned and operated a Chicago |
13 | | restaurant for two years; he spent 15 years as a Chicago |
14 | | Transit Authority (CTA) bus driver, 12 years as a CTA motorman, |
15 | | and seven years as a CTA motorman instructor; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish enjoyed World War II history and |
17 | | collecting soldier figurines; he and his wife were avid square |
18 | | dancers and members of the Woodstock Squares; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish was preceded in death by his |
20 | | parents; his siblings, Helen, Naomi, and James Gerrish; and his |
|

1 | | stepchildren, Anne Carpenter and Laura Von Hoffen; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Gerrish is survived by his wife, Jeanette; |
3 | | his three children, Kevin (Linda) Gerrish, Ellen (Dave) Holst, |
4 | | and Ann (Jeff) McGinnis; his stepchildren, William Von Hoffen, |
5 | | Ruth Minarcik, Cathy Holms, Robert Von Hoffen, and Christine |
6 | | Claus; his grandchildren, Brian, Nicholas, and Christopher |
7 | | Chiodo, Sean and Kelly Gerrish, Scott McGinnis, Rachel Holst, |
8 | | Tracy and Scott Batdorf, Angela and Robert DiNardo, Kyle |
9 | | Minarcik, and Spencer and Kaitlyn Gonzalez; and three |
10 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
13 | | Wilbert Henry Gerrish, and extend our sincere condolences to |
14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
15 | | further

16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Wilbert Gerrish as an expression of |
18 | | our deepest sympathy.
