| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Leonard John "LJ" Marak of McHenry, who |
| 4 | | passed away on August 23, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was born in Arlington Heights to |
| 6 | | Leonard F. and Nancy C. (Koch) Marak on May 3, 1976; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Palatine High School in 1994 and married |
| 8 | | Kimberly A. Grinnell at St. Mary's Church in Huntley on |
| 9 | | September 18, 2004; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Marak worked at the Palatine Police |
| 11 | | Department as a police assistant for a number of years before |
| 12 | | obtaining his Associate in Criminal Justice from Harper |
| 13 | | Community College; in 2002, he entered the police academy at |
| 14 | | the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he |
| 15 | | graduated at the top of his class; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Marak worked with the Huntley Police |
| 17 | | Department for 14 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was actively involved with the |
| 19 | | Citizens Police Academy and Alumni Association; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was a hunter and cherished his |
|

| 1 | | yellow lab, Cady; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was preceded in death by his |
| 3 | | grandparents, John and Helen Koch, and Leonard and Anna Marak; |
| 4 | | and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Marak is survived by his wife, Kim; his |
| 6 | | sons, Leonard Jeffery "Leo" Marak, Bennett Adam Marak, and |
| 7 | | Samuel Reed Marak; his parents; his sister, Darcey (Garth) |
| 8 | | Martino; his brother, Adam (Jessica) Marak; his nieces and |
| 9 | | nephews, Mia, Anna, Elise, and Brandon Martino, Tyler and |
| 10 | | Summer Marak, and Jordan Grinnell; his in-laws, Susan and |
| 11 | | Jeffery Grinnell; his brother-in-law, Kevin Grinnell; numerous |
| 12 | | aunts and uncles; many cousins; and many lifelong friends; |
| 13 | | therefore, be it

| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | Leonard John "LJ" Marak , and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 17 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 18 | | further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Leonard Marak as an expression of |
| 21 | | our deepest sympathy.
