SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leonard John "LJ" Marak of McHenry, who
4passed away on August 23, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was born in Arlington Heights to
6Leonard F. and Nancy C. (Koch) Marak on May 3, 1976; he
7graduated from Palatine High School in 1994 and married
8Kimberly A. Grinnell at St. Mary's Church in Huntley on
9September 18, 2004; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Leonard Marak worked at the Palatine Police
11Department as a police assistant for a number of years before
12obtaining his Associate in Criminal Justice from Harper
13Community College; in 2002, he entered the police academy at
14the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he
15graduated at the top of his class; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Leonard Marak worked with the Huntley Police
17Department for 14 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was actively involved with the
19Citizens Police Academy and Alumni Association; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was a hunter and cherished his

1yellow lab, Cady; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Leonard Marak was preceded in death by his
3grandparents, John and Helen Koch, and Leonard and Anna Marak;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leonard Marak is survived by his wife, Kim; his
6sons, Leonard Jeffery "Leo" Marak, Bennett Adam Marak, and
7Samuel Reed Marak; his parents; his sister, Darcey (Garth)
8Martino; his brother, Adam (Jessica) Marak; his nieces and
9nephews, Mia, Anna, Elise, and Brandon Martino, Tyler and
10Summer Marak, and Jordan Grinnell; his in-laws, Susan and
11Jeffery Grinnell; his brother-in-law, Kevin Grinnell; numerous
12aunts and uncles; many cousins; and many lifelong friends;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Leonard John "LJ" Marak , and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Leonard Marak as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
