| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Alyce Joyce Shay of McHenry, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 22, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Shay was born in Chicago to Mitchell and |
| 6 | | Charlotte (Wijacki) Bykowski on December 5, 1936; she moved to |
| 7 | | the McHenry area with her parents in the early 1950s and |
| 8 | | married John J. Shay at St. Mary Church on October 4, 1958; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Shay graduated from the Wilkins School of |
| 10 | | Music in 1955 and opened the Alyce Joyce Music Studio in 1957; |
| 11 | | she taught numerous students her love of the organ, until its |
| 12 | | closing in 2009; she was also a spokesperson for Lyon & Healy |
| 13 | | of Chicago; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Shay and her husband enjoyed living on the |
| 15 | | river in McHenry for almost 20 years; they held annual Fiesta |
| 16 | | Days after parties; they also hosted the yearly "blessing of |
| 17 | | the boats" on the Fox River; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Shay was a member of the Church of Holy |
| 19 | | Apostles, where she was the church organist and was the founder |
| 20 | | of the prayer line; she had a deep admiration for animals, |
| 21 | | especially dogs; she adored raising her sons and being a |
