SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alyce Joyce Shay of McHenry, who passed
4away on August 22, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alyce Shay was born in Chicago to Mitchell and
6Charlotte (Wijacki) Bykowski on December 5, 1936; she moved to
7the McHenry area with her parents in the early 1950s and
8married John J. Shay at St. Mary Church on October 4, 1958; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Alyce Shay graduated from the Wilkins School of
10Music in 1955 and opened the Alyce Joyce Music Studio in 1957;
11she taught numerous students her love of the organ, until its
12closing in 2009; she was also a spokesperson for Lyon & Healy
13of Chicago; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Alyce Shay and her husband enjoyed living on the
15river in McHenry for almost 20 years; they held annual Fiesta
16Days after parties; they also hosted the yearly "blessing of
17the boats" on the Fox River; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Alyce Shay was a member of the Church of Holy
19Apostles, where she was the church organist and was the founder
20of the prayer line; she had a deep admiration for animals,
21especially dogs; she adored raising her sons and being a

1grandmother and great-grandmother; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Alyce Shay was preceded in death by her husband,
3John, and her parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Alyce Shay is survived by her sons, Kevin Shay and
5Darren (Debby) Shay; her grandchildren, Ryan (Kristina) Shay
6and Scott (Terri) Shay; her great-grandchildren, Harper and
7Madison; and her siblings, Ronald (Linda) Bykowski and James
8(Sherry) Bykowski; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Alyce Joyce Shay, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Alyce Shay as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
