SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helyett Caroline Jones of Roodhouse, who
4passed away on August 31, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helyett Jones was born on October 10, 1920 in
6Oran, Algeria; her parents were Charles and Antoinette Lauribe
7Pascual; she married James A. Jones on January 22, 1945 in
8Oran, Algeria; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Helyett Jones worked at Coffman Drug Store and
10King Freeze in Roodhouse before serving as a cook in the North
11Greene Junior High Schools for 16 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Helyett Jones visited many organizations over the
13years as a featured speaker, where she displayed her souvenirs
14from Oran, including the beautiful linens made by her mother
15and grandmother, and described her life in North Africa; she
16also visited French classrooms to help students learn to speak
17French and tutored French teachers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Helyett Jones was a member of the Roodhouse
19Methodist Church since 1946; she was also a member of Christ
20Methodist Church in White Hall, the American Legion Auxiliary,
21the Women's Club, and Delta Sorority; and

1    WHEREAS, Helyett Jones enjoyed playing bridge, knitting,
2quilting, and traveling with her many friends; she was also an
3avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Helyett Jones was preceded in death by her
5parents; her husband, James; and her brother, Charles
6(Lucienne) Pascual; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Helyett Jones is survived by her daughter, Nancy
8(Carl) Ehlert; her son, Dick (Lisa) Jones; her grandchildren,
9Beth (John) Stankoven, Kristen (Brad) Constable, Trista (Andy)
10Manar, Aimee (Drew) Forrester, and Rodney (Angela) Jones; and
11nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
14family and friends, mourn the passing of Helyett Caroline
15Jones; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Helyett Jones as an expression of
18our sympathy.
