SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Clive Allen Follmer, who passed away on
4August 14, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clive Follmer was born on October 1, 1931 in
6Forrest; his parents were Eva Jane and William G. Follmer; he
7married Donna Lee Henson on October 11, 1953; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Clive Follmer attended the University of Illinois
9from 1949 to 1953 and graduated with a degree in commerce; he
10played baseball and basketball for the Fighting Illini, taking
11his basketball team to two Final Four tournaments in 1951 and
121952; he was named Big Ten Athlete of the Year in 1953; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After a stint as a pitcher for the White Sox Minor
14League for two years, Clive Follmer served as an officer in the
15United States Army and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma
16from 1955 to 1957; after his military service, he returned to
17the University of Illinois to attend law school; he graduated
18in 1958 and practiced law in Champaign County until his
19retirement in 2014; he was also a real estate developer and he
20played a vital role in the development of southeast Urbana; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Clive Follmer was a history buff and his

1insatiable curiosity led him on numerous travels around the
2world; he was also an avid gardener and enjoyed playing golf,
3the piano, and the accordion and playing practical jokes on his
4friends and family; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clive Follmer was preceded in death by his wife,
6Donna, and his brother, Dan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Clive Follmer is survived by his children, Randy
8(Linda) Follmer, Darcy Gentner, Kent Follmer, and Jacqueline
9Follmer; his brothers, Mack Follmer and Leon Follmer; his
10sister, Juanita Mykkanen; seven grandchildren; and his
11great-grandson; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
14family and friends, mourn the passing of Clive Allen Follmer;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Clive Follmer as an expression of
18our sympathy.
