| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Clive Allen Follmer, who passed away on |
| 4 | | August 14, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Clive Follmer was born on October 1, 1931 in |
| 6 | | Forrest; his parents were Eva Jane and William G. Follmer; he |
| 7 | | married Donna Lee Henson on October 11, 1953; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Clive Follmer attended the University of Illinois |
| 9 | | from 1949 to 1953 and graduated with a degree in commerce; he |
| 10 | | played baseball and basketball for the Fighting Illini, taking |
| 11 | | his basketball team to two Final Four tournaments in 1951 and |
| 12 | | 1952; he was named Big Ten Athlete of the Year in 1953; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After a stint as a pitcher for the White Sox Minor |
| 14 | | League for two years, Clive Follmer served as an officer in the |
| 15 | | United States Army and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma |
| 16 | | from 1955 to 1957; after his military service, he returned to |
| 17 | | the University of Illinois to attend law school; he graduated |
| 18 | | in 1958 and practiced law in Champaign County until his |
| 19 | | retirement in 2014; he was also a real estate developer and he |
| 20 | | played a vital role in the development of southeast Urbana; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Clive Follmer was a history buff and his |
