SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Willie Spurlock, Jr., also known as
4Evangelist Emanuel Lee Israel, who passed away on August 26,
52016; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Willie Spurlock, Jr. was born on May 7, 1951 in
7Minter City, Mississippi; his parents were Will Sr. and Emma
8Davis Spurlock; he married Audrey Daniels Spurlock on May 7,
91973 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Willie Spurlock, Jr. graduated from Classen High
11School in 1973 and attended Olive Harvey College; he enlisted
12in the United States Air Force, where he served as an
13administrative specialist; he received many accolades and
14awards during his Air Force service and was honorably
15discharged in 1975; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Willie Spurlock, Jr. enjoyed reading the Bible,
17attending various services around the community, evangelizing
18to inmates, visiting nursing homes, volunteering at Lincoln
19Challenge Academy, spending time with his family, and being of
20assistance whenever he was needed; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Willie Spurlock, Jr. was preceded in death by his

1parents; his wife, Audrey; and his siblings, Richard Spurlock
2and Inez Kelly; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Willie Spurlock, Jr. is survived by his children,
4Nakkia Williams, Lakesha Seck, Shaune Spurlock Winfield,
5Latoyia Spurlock, and Willie Spurlock III; his granddaughter,
6Destinie Spurlock; his siblings, Bobby Spurlock, Walter
7(Alice) Spurlock, Booker T. (Bernice) Spurlock, Roderick
8Spurlock, Samuel Spurlock, Harris Spurlock, Florence Spurlock,
9Diana (Tyrone) Spurlock Smith, and Rosie (James) Rouse; and
10many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Willie Spurlock, Jr.,
14also known as Evangelist Emanuel Lee Israel; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Willie Spurlock, Jr. as an
17expression of our sympathy.
