| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Dorothy "Dottie" Byrn Spence, who passed |
| 4 | | away on September 17, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence was born on June 25, 1931, in |
| 6 | | Gallatin, Tennessee; his parents were Mary and Philip Maynard |
| 7 | | Byrn; she married George Spence in 1950; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence lived in Alton for over 50 years; |
| 9 | | she served on the Madison County Board, sold real estate, and |
| 10 | | devoted countless hours to P.E.O., the Community Service |
| 11 | | League, and the Easter Seals Society; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence enjoyed spending summers at a |
| 13 | | cottage in Chautauqua, spending time with her friends, nature, |
| 14 | | and playing bridge; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence was preceded in death by her |
| 16 | | husband, George; her sisters, Brodie Shaw and Marion Tobias; |
| 17 | | and her brother, James Byrn; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence is survived by her daughters, Lisa |
| 19 | | Spence Huber, Sharon Spence, and Dixie Spence Taylor; her |
| 20 | | grandchildren, John and Michael Huber (Margaret Rogers), |
