SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Thompson, who passed away on September 25, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was born on October 16, 1938 in Danville; his parents were Carl and Ethel Thompson; he married Roberta Berry on December 22, 1962 in Georgetown; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson proudly served our country in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was a member of the Danville American Legion, the Danville Veterans of Foreign Wars, the USS Lexington Museum of Corpus Christie, Texas, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson enjoyed antique cars, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and White Sox, being outside, gardening, fishing, and playing cards; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenneth Thompson; his daughter, Cathy Spiering; his son, Greg Walker; and his granddaughter, Ciera Spiering; and

WHEREAS, Robert Thompson is survived by his wife, Roberta; his sons, Micheal (Kathy) Walker and Bob Thompson, Jr.; his daughter, Janet (Brad) Constans; his sister, Sharon Bly; his grandchildren, Rachel (Klayton) Walkaufson, Allen (Ashely) Walker, Morgan (Josh) Spiering, Lexington Spiering, Bryer Constans, Tyler Constans, and Jerrica (Chadd) Snyder; his great-grandchildren, Elysia Spiering, Delilah Walker, and one on the way; his son-in-law, Tim Spiering; and his nephews, Gary Bly and David Parsons; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert Thompson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Thompson as an expression of our sympathy.
