SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eric L. Justen of Burbank, California, formerly of Wonder Lake, who passed away on August 11, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Eric Justen was born on August 25, 1972 in Woodstock; his parents were Rick and Mary Justen; he married Cassandra Suarez on May 21, 2016 in Maui, Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, Eric Justen graduated from McHenry High School in 1990 and Columbia College in Chicago, where he majored in sound; and

WHEREAS, Eric Justen worked at various studios before landing a position at Warner Brothers, where he worked as a post-production re-recording mixer for the last nine years; he worked on more than 100 movies and television shows in his lifetime, including the original "The Fast and the Furious"; recently, he was nominated for an Emmy three consecutive times for Outstanding Sound Mixing on the critically acclaimed television show "Breaking Bad" for its three final seasons; he was also part of the team who won the 2014 Motion Picture Sound Editors Award for Best Sound Editing; his last TV show, "Queen Sugar", will air this coming September and will feature a tribute to Eric for his sound contribution in the last episode; and

WHEREAS, Eric Justen was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph DeMar, and his paternal grandparents, Nick and Elaine Justen; and

WHEREAS, Eric Justen is survived by his wife, Cassandra; his parents; his brother, Marc (Rachel) Justen; his niece and nephew, Haylee and Hayden; his nephew, Dominic; his maternal grandmother, Barbara DeMar; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Eric L. Justen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eric Justen as an expression of our sympathy.
