SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Robert "Bob" "Sterny" V. Sternberg of 
4Marengo, who passed away on July 15, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg was born on May 6, 1943 in 
6Belvidere; his parents were Victor and Ethel Sternberg; he 
7married Roberta Ackman on February 17, 1968 at Zion Lutheran 
8Church in Marengo; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg attended Harmony Grade School 
10and was a 1962 graduate of Marengo Community High School; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg retired as a foreman for the 
12McHenry County Highway Department after 32 years of service; he 
13enjoyed farming in the area for many years and talking with his 
14friends at his vegetable stand; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg was active at Zion Lutheran 
16Church as head usher, Elder, and a member of numerous 
17committees; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg was preceded in death by his 
19parents; his brothers, Martin and David; and his sister and 
20brother-in-law, Rebecca (Robert) Dovich; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg is survived by his wife, Roberta; 
2his daughter, Robin (Gordon) Shetley; his grandson, Brendan 
3Shetley; his step-granddaughter, Madison Shetley; and many 
4special friends; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" "Sterny" 
8V. Sternberg; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Robert Sternberg as an expression of 
11our sympathy.
