SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gilbert A. Huber of Moline, who passed away on October 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Huber was born in Hillsboro to Carl Gilbert and Kathleen (Slagel) Huber on October 6, 1942; he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; he then served in the Army National Guard in Galva, and in the Army Reserve in Rock Island and Davenport, Iowa; he married Patricia Young, and later, Carol Hull in Rock Island on December 24, 1986; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Huber was a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal, where he also was a reserve police officer; he worked security at several places, including Stateville Penitentiary and for 17 years at the iWireless Center; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Huber was honored to travel with the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.; he enjoyed genealogy and working with computers; he was a member of the Honda Goldwing Club; he loved his many dogs and cats over the years; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Huber was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Gilbert Huber is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Deborah Huber, Jennifer (Steven) Meana, and Jay (Carolyn) Huber; his stepchildren, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Brands, Brenda (John) Nelson, and Jeremy Hull; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; his sister, Karen (Ron) Masanz; and his brother, Steven (Phyllis) Huber; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gilbert A. Huber, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gilbert Huber as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
