SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur Paul Wilhelmi, D.D.S., who passed away at the age of 89; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wilhelmi was born on March 22, 1927 in Joliet; his parents were Arthur C. and Anne Wilhelmi; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wilhelmi grew up in St. John the Baptist Parish in Joliet; he attended grade school there and graduated with the class of 1940 at Joliet Catholic High School; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wilhelmi enlisted in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, serving in Alaska as a radio operator; and

WHEREAS, After retiring from the service, Arthur Wilhelmi attended St. Bede's Preparatory School for the seminary; he later attended Joliet Junior College and Washington University before graduating from the St. Louis School of Dentistry with the class of 1955; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wilhelmi served as a dentist in his community for 40 years; he was well-known for his love for dentistry and his patients; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wilhelmi loved playing cards, the piano, guitar and golf with his buddies, as well as picnics at Coal City with the Adler and Hills families. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and most of all, being with his beloved family; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wilhelmi was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Sara Lynn; his sister, Donna Hills; and his best friend and brother-in-law, John Hills; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wilhelmi is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Wilhelmi; his children, Steve (Sara) Wilhelmi, Mimi (Tyler) Ford, David (Maggie) Wilhelmi, Lauri (Gary) Scott, Kati (Mike) Bennett, and former Illinois State Senator A.J. (Michelle) Wilhelmi; his grandchildren, Adam (Nikki), Jason, and Alex (Savanna) Wilhelmi, Matthew (Danielle) Emich, Elena (Scott) Perlman, Tommy Emich, Katelyn, Erin, and Sheila Wilhelmi, Patrick, Justin, Ethan, and Andrew Scott, Colleen, Tim, and Stephen Bennett, Maycen Pirc, and Laine and Marin Wilhelmi; his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Natalie Emich, Breanna and McKenna Wilhelmi, Lilly and Leo Wilhelmi, and Ella June Perlman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Arthur Paul Wilhelmi, D.D.S.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur Wilhelmi as an expression of our sympathy.
