SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth A. "Kenny" Powell of Colona, who
4passed away on October 25, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Powell was born in Atkinson to Emmett and
6Frances (Keemle Floming) Powell on February 17, 1941; he
7graduated from Atkinson High School and served in the United
8States Navy as a Seaman First Class; he married Cheryl "Cheri"
9Beaird in Rock Island on May 14, 1971; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kenneth Powell was a forklift operator for Case-IH
11in East Moline for over 30 years, retiring in 1992; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Kenneth Powell was a member of United Auto Workers
13#1304 in East Moline; he was a 32nd degree Mason with Moline
14Lodge #1014; he was a member of the Colona American Legion Post
15#1233 for 37 years; he enjoyed taking care of his yard, going
16for walks, and riding his bike; he looked forward to meeting
17with his coffee group at the Doughnut Shop and his friends at
18the American Legion; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kenneth Powell was preceded in death by his
20parents; his son, Timothy Powell; and his brother, Bill Powell;

1    WHEREAS, Kenneth Powell is survived by his wife, Cheryl;
2his daughter, Maria Powell; his grandchildren, Anna Marolf and
3Timothy Marolf; and his sister, Roseann Powell; therefore, be
4it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Kenneth A. "Kenny" Powell, and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Kenneth Powell as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
