| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of JoAnne L. Ford-Mackay, who passed away on |
| 4 | | October 21, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, JoAnne Ford-Mackay was born on September 2, 1929 |
| 6 | | in Joliet; her parents were Sam and Myrtle Pettinato; she |
| 7 | | married Art Mackay in 2001; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, JoAnne Ford-Mackay enjoyed everything in the |
| 9 | | arts; her parents introduced her to the accordion at the age of |
| 10 | | five and she took lessons from Joe Mosele until the age of 19; |
| 11 | | she and her husband entertained audiences at nursing homes, |
| 12 | | meetings, churches, and other places; she was also an |
| 13 | | accomplished artist; she drew the faces of many male movie |
| 14 | | stars and sent them to the stars; in return, she would receive |
| 15 | | autographed pictures of the stars with encouraging notes; this |
| 16 | | became a treasured hobby of hers and was highlighted on the |
| 17 | | front page of the Joliet Spectator; she also enjoyed collecting |
| 18 | | numerous photo albums and often drew characters in them |
| 19 | | depicting the storyline of her life events; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, JoAnne Ford-Mackay served as president of the B.P. |
| 21 | | Amoco Ladies Club, the "Amoco Anns", and headed their bowling |
| 22 | | teams; she was a dedicated volunteer at the Rialto Theatre for |
|

| 1 | | 11 years and serving on the theatre board for three years; she |
| 2 | | was inducted into the Rialto Hall of Fame for her many years of |
| 3 | | service; she was well known for drawing portraits of the stars |
| 4 | | that performed at the theatre, such as Wayne Newton, Engelbert |
| 5 | | Humperdink, and Tony Martin, and personally presenting them to |
| 6 | | the entertainers backstage; she also enjoyed crocheting |
| 7 | | hand-made dolls and enjoyed giving them away as gifts; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, JoAnne Ford-Mackay was preceded in death by her |
| 9 | | first husband of 41 years, Emmett "Mickey" Ford; her daughter, |
| 10 | | Dr. Robin R. Ford Ellis Nash; her son-in-law, Donald G. Ellis; |
| 11 | | and her parents; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, JoAnne Ford-Mackay is survived by her second |
| 13 | | husband, Art Mackay; her son, Kevin M. Ford; her grandsons, |
| 14 | | Aaron Nash and Dr. Brett Nash; her granddaughter, Cody Shannon |
| 15 | | Nash; her son-in-law, Dr. Ken Nash; her stepdaughters, Cynthia |
| 16 | | (Dave) Pollentier and Joanne (Greg) Rodriguez; her |
| 17 | | step-grandchildren, Christopher (Carmen) Schram, Katie (Roy) |
| 18 | | Coons, Reni Rodriguez, and Yordan Rodriguez; and seven |
| 19 | | step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
| 22 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of JoAnne L. Ford-Mackay; |
