SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold R. Irwin of Woodstock, who passed
4away on October 22, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Irwin was born in rural Argos, Indiana to
6Elmer O. and Iva (Middleton) Irwin on October 21, 1919; he
7graduated from Culver High School in Indiana and married
8Jeanette M. McBride in Hampton, Virginia on August 10, 1941; he
9served in the United States Army Air Corps in World War II; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Harold Irwin was employed by NICOR Gas Company for
1130 years; after retiring, he drove a bus for Sedom for several
12years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Harold Irwin was an active member of the First
14United Methodist Church in Woodstock since 1947, where he
15served on the church council, including one term as Chairman;
16he also served on various committees and was
17Secretary/Treasurer of the church's fellowship for 20 years; he
18was a member of the Kiwanis Golden K Club and was active with
19Boy Scout Troop 159 in the 1950s and 1960s; he and his wife
20enjoyed camping and taking trips; they were charter members of
21the Woodstock Woodchucks Camping Club and delivered Meals on
22Wheels; and

1    WHEREAS, Harold Irwin was a charter and life member of VFW
2Post 5040 since 1946; he was a member of the Post Honor Guard,
3participating in over 200 graveside services for veterans; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Harold Irwin was preceded in death by his wife,
5Jeanette; his son, Richard Irwin; his parents; his in-laws,
6Ralph and Ada (Chapman) McBride; his sisters-in-law; his
7brothers-in-law; a nephew; and a great-nephew; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Harold Irwin is survived by his daughter, Nancy;
9his daughter-in-law, Joye (Westman) Irwin; his grandchildren,
10Lisa (Ken) Ardanowski, and Scott (Susan) Irwin; his
11great-grandchildren, Ella, Matthew, and Jack; and several
12nieces and cousins; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Harold R. Irwin, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Harold Irwin as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
