| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Glen A. Marcum, who passed away on |
| 4 | | November 1, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Glen Marcum was born in Joliet and attended |
| 6 | | Cunningham Grade School and Hufford Junior High; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Joliet Central High School in 1978; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Glen Marcum worked as an auto mechanic for 39 |
| 9 | | years at Bertino's Auto in Joliet; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Glen Marcum devoted countless years of his life to |
| 11 | | the Joliet community; he was a volunteer basketball coach at |
| 12 | | St. Paul the Apostle School and spent three terms on the Joliet |
| 13 | | Grade School Board of School Inspectors; he served as President |
| 14 | | of the Greater Joliet Youth Foundation and President of the |
| 15 | | Instrumental Music Parents Association; he participated with |
| 16 | | the Joliet Relay for Life for 15 years, five as Chair; he was |
| 17 | | Co-Chair for the American Cancer Society Regional Board, |
| 18 | | President of the Joliet Township High School Athletic Boosters, |
| 19 | | and Co-Chair of the Joliet Township High School Strategic Plan |
| 20 | | Committee; he was head judge of the Will County Spelling |
| 21 | | Contest; he was a Big Brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and |
| 22 | | a member of Take Back the Night committee; he was a volunteer |

| 1 | | at Daybreak Shelter and instrumental in establishing the Joliet |
| 2 | | Grade Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence, where he |
| 3 | | served as President; he was a political analyst for WJOL, and |
| 4 | | served two terms with the Joliet Park District, three years as |
| 5 | | President; he served on the City Center Partnership Christmas |
| 6 | | Parade Committee and as a Right Moves for Youth Board Member; |
| 7 | | he was a member of the Old Timers Baseball Association and Men |
| 8 | | Who Cook; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Glen Marcum was preceded in death by his mother, |
| 10 | | Twila (Florey) Marcum, and his brothers, Richard Marcum, and |
| 11 | | Randy Marcum; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Glen Marcum is survived by his wife of 34 years, |
| 13 | | Patricia (Seeman) Marcum; his children, Brett (Samantha) |
| 14 | | Marcum, Patrick Marcum, Allison (Ben) Gunnink, and Tyler (Beth) |
| 15 | | Marcum; his father, James R. Marcum; his siblings, Brad (Kim) |
| 16 | | Marcum and Diane (Dave) Zuelke; his sisters-in-law, Jennianne |
| 17 | | Marcum, and Donna (Tony) Spillie; his brothers-in-law, Bill |
| 18 | | (Vicky) Seeman, Ray (Janette) Seeman, and Michael Seeman; and |
| 19 | | numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, |
| 20 | | cousins, and dear friends; therefore, be it
