SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bernice E. Steffen of Harvard, who passed
4away on October 3, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bernice Steffen was born on March 3, 1928 in
6Chicago; her parents were Einer C. and Edna Swanson; she
7married Edwin Steffen on December 26, 1970 in Marengo; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bernice Steffen was a long-time McHenry County
9election judge; she was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church,
10where she was a member of the Ladies Aide and church choir; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bernice Steffen enjoyed quilting, baking,
12crossword puzzles, playing Canasta, gardening, canning, and
13spending time with her family; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bernice Steffen was preceded in death by her
15parents; her son, Jeff Hanson; her sisters, June and Lois; and
16her brother, Bill; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bernice Steffen is survived by her husband, Edwin
18Steffen; her children, Eric (Susan) Hanson, Brad (Lilli)
19Hanson, and Laura (Jon) Aagesen; her grandchildren, Graeme
20(Sarah) Hanson, Christopher (Trish) Hanson, Emilie Jackson,

1Joel (Kelly) Jackson, Ian Jackson, TJ (Tia) Aagesen, Jim
2Aagesen, Aaron Hanson, Katie (Jake) Knappmiller, Melissa

4Kranich, and Valerie Hanson; and her great-grandchildren,
5Desi, Tommy, Niklas, Hannah, Sammy, Olivia, Noah, Josiah,
6Aliyah, Brennan, Cole, Emma, and Evan; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Bernice E. Steffen;
10and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Bernice Steffen as an expression of
13our sympathy.
